Hello everybody and welcome to another exciting edition of Miracle League coverage. As you can see from the title, The Chicago White Sox defeated the Miracle League Seattle Mariners in an epic battle that came down to the wire. While the White Sox had full control from beginning to end, forcing three mercy’s in the top three innings, they were stifled in the fourth only bringing in one run and allowing the Mariners the opportunity to pull off the come back.

Before we get going with some of the highlights, I would just like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Andrew Meeker of the Seattle Mariners. If you would like to see him celebrating before one of his at bats, I highly advise you to watch the video. He gets down for the crowd just before getting ready to hit the ball. Keep rocking Meeker!

And now, to the highlights… In the top of the first Matt Heslop made an excellent play at third base, nabbing a bouncer and tagging third base for the out. Devin Morrison and Zach Francis were the first two runs to score off on a nicely hit RBI single by Drew Frazier. Frazier, Kaelin Finer and John Ciesinski were the other runners to score in the top of the first to force the mercy.

The White Sox continued to play well slowing down some of the Mariners hitting. Morrison had an excellent game on defense making a great throw to Finer at third for the out. Ciesinski made an excellent play at second to tag the runner preventing another run from scoring and ending the inning. There were; however, three runs scored by the Mariners off some well hit balls.

Another well made play was Zach Francis catching a ball that was going foul. After making the play, he stopped and did a little jig before heading back to first. What excitement!

Kaelin Finer would come through with a three run home run in the top of the second to further increase the lead over the Mariners. But the Mariners would not go quietly. Matt Heslop continued hit wonderful hitting by crushing a ball and providing a three run homer as well. This was in the bottom of the third and helped to generate momentum for the Mariners, something much needed. They would force the mercy in the bottom of the third to keep the game within reach at 15 – 12 White Sox.

With the top of the fourth, the White Sox looked to finish off the strong game with another mercy. But the Mariners would make sure to hold them up. Brett Hall would make some excellent plays at first base providing the first two outs. Brittany Jadgonzinski would also assist on the first one with a scoop throw to Hall. The final out was made by Jacob Horton who successfully scooped it up at shortstop and beat the runner to second. What a bang, bang play!

So we headed into the bottom of the final inning, Mariners down 16 – 12. Oh, the drama! And the Mariners would make it exciting. They would bring in two runs and put two runners in scoring position. However, Kaelin Finer had enough and decided to take over the game. With the final play of the game, 1 out already against the Mariners, Finer caught a ball hit his way, stepped on third base for the second out and ran home to get the guy who was about to score. What a way to end the ball game. The White Sox won and put them into a tie with the Mariners for second place.
